Okmulgee Pecan Festival Pet Parade

The Okmulgee Rotary Club is sponsoring the 2017 Okmulgee Pecan Festival Pet Parade! Bring your furry, scaly, fishy friend to the parade.

The categories for this year's pet parade are:  Exceptional Ears ,The Incredible Bulk, Most Unique Pocket Pet Entry, Exceptional Tail, Most Unusual, Best Owner/Pet Look-A-Like, Most Bashful, Best Water Wonder, Cutest Critter, Most Marvelous Manners, Most Energetic, Celebrity Look-A-Like, and Best Costume. 

Please fill out the form and return it to a Rotary Club member or the Chamber of Commerce. Registration is required to participate.

Remember to keep pets on a leash, in their cage/bowl/or contained habitat. Please take your pet with you when the parade concludes, and DO NOT leave your pet in a HOT car! Neither the Okmulgee Chamber of Commerce or the Okmulgee Rotary Club is responsible for lost or stolen pets of any kind, or any type of injuries to pets/spectators/owners or property.

Car Seat Safety Check

Is your family ready for summer travel?

At the 2017 Pecan Festival, families can stop by 200 N. Grand Ave. on Friday, June 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and have certified Car Seat Technician check to make sure that car seats are properly installed. No appointment necessary and absolutely free! 

Using a car seat correctly is the best protection parents and caregivers can give children when traveling in a car. This event is sponsored by the Okmulgee County EMS, Okmulgee County Health Department, and the Okmulgee Fire Department. 

Pecan Festival Splash and Dash 5K Fun Run/Walk

The Pecan Festival is proud to present the Splash and Dash 5K Fun Run/Walk that will take place Saturday, June 10. Early registration ends on Friday, June 2 at the cost of $10, while registration the day of will be $15. 

T-shirts are only guaranteed to those who register early, so be sure to fill out your form before June 10! 

Please mail or drop off entry forms to the Chamber of Commerce located at 112 N. Morton Ave. in Okmulgee. All checks also need to be made out to the Chamber of Commerce.

Swinging from the "Tree Tops" Pecan Showdown

Entering into the Swinging from the "Tree Tops" Pecan Showdown is free. 

All entries must be prepared by the exhibitor and contain at least one cup of pecans per recipe. There must be enough of a recipe for three judges to sample. Recipes must also be entered along with a dessert and must contain directions for all components of the dessert, including crust, frosting, etc.

Desserts submitted must be properly preserved in a disposable paper or aluminum container and must be covered with a transparent wrapping. 

The exhibitor’s name, address should be attached securely to the bottom of the container only. 

The Show:

The Showdown will take place on Saturday, June 10. All desserts must be submitted and displayed for judging between 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in downtown Okmulgee. For impartial judging, do not place your name on the recipe card anywhere; instead, place your name and address must be securely attached to the bottom of the dessert.

Judging will begin at 10:30 a.m. and entries will be grouped together with similar desserts. The winners will be announced at noon on the town square. All food items can be removed shortly after the winners have been recognized. Sponsors will not be responsible for returning any containers or food left after the winners of the competition have been announced. 


 First Place for both divisions will be awarded $100 donated by Tree Top Pecans, LLC.   

Second and Third Place winners will receive a ribbon along with a gift certificate.   

Pictures will be taken of the winners.


Adult Division – Any person who is over 18 years  and out of high school may enter. Recent high school graduates will compete in the adult division. 

Junior Division – Any student through the 12th grade may enter.
